Dr. Maxwell Hartt, Director

Maxwell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Planning at Queen’s University. He has a PhD in Planning from the University of Waterloo. Rachel Barber

Rachel is a PhD student in the Department of Geography and Planning at Queen’s University. She has a Master’s of Planning from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Arts in Géographie from Laurentian University. Her research focuses on left behind places.

Janine Dodge

Janine is a PhD student in the Department of Geography and Planning at Queen’s University. She has degrees in International Relations, Business, and Aging and Health. She is passionate about play across the lifespan and between generations. Her research focuses on the geographies of play and aging in São Paulo, Brazil.

Mary Smida

Mary is a PhD candidate in the Department of Geography and Planning at Queen’s University. She has degrees in Business, Theology, and History. Her research focuses on post-resource extraction experiences of northern Canadian municipalities, and individual and community resilience to political and socioeconomic changes.  

Jianing Sun

Jianing is a visiting PhD student in the Department of Geography and Planning at Queen’s University. Her home university is Chongqing University in China. Jianing’s research focuses on the sustainable development of shrinking cities.

Nishant Dave

Nishant is an MPL Candidate in the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Queen’s University. He has a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from Carleton University. His research focuses on urban design and older adult play in the international context.

Marley Gryfe

Marley is an MPL Candidate in the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Queen’s University. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University. Her research focuses on accessible urban design for older adults.

Sarah Mallen

Sarah is an MPL Candidate in the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Queen’s University. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Environmental Studies from Queen’s University. Her research focuses on urban healthy aging for older adults and demographic change.

Victoria McCutcheon

Victoria is an MPL Candidate in the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Queen’s University. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Urban Studies from the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on immigrant and refugee settlement in rural municipalities and shrinking cities.

Jennifer Rodriguez

Jennifer is an MPL Candidate in the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Queen’s University. She has a Bachelor of Global Business and Digital Arts from the University of Waterloo. Her research focuses on the playfulness of age-friendly urban planning and design.

Caley Savage

Caley is an MPL Candidate in the School of Urban and Regional Planning. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Business from Western University. Her research focuses on studentification, the financialization of housing, and demographic change.
